When you apply for the moose permit you will receive the Federal Subsistence Hunt Report and the Federal Permit. You must keep the Federal Permit with you while hunting. The moose permit is for one antlered bull moose having a spike or fork antler on at least one side or having an antler spread of greater than 50 or having at least 3 brow tines on at least one antler.
There are two different permits. The permit (RM315) for Port Graham, Seldovia, Ninilchik, and Nawalek  is valid for both the early (usually 08/10-09/20) and late ( usually 10/20-11/10) season hunt. The late season hunt is valid only in 15B and 15C. The permit for Cooper Landing residents (RM071) is valid for the early season only.
The permits is valid only on federal public land.
Successful hunters need to report harvesting a moose within 5 days. Hunters can report in person at the Refuge office or via phone 262-7021.
All hunters whether successful or unsuccessful and those who did not hunt must return their permits within 15 days after the close of the season (The late season usually ends November 10, so the deadline would be November 25). Hunters who do not return hunt reports may not be eligible for future hunts.
In addition to the federal moose permit, the hunter must have a valid current ADF&G hunting license. Consult current regulations at http://alaska.fws.gov/asm/law
